This is by far our most popular bonnet, yet when it was first made we had no intention of putting it into production. It was made as a one-off for a customer, but attracted so much interest from visitors to the workshop that we were forced to put it into production. We had half a dozen orders before publicising it or even telling people we were making it! Mini Magazine said "a great way to look and stay cool". We agree. The bonnet has a Renault 19 Gti vent built into the drivers side of the bonnet. This is positioned such that it directs cold air to the standard airbox inlet, thus providing cold air to the carb. The passenger side has an angled trumpet vent directing additional cold air towards the radiator, to aid cooling. This bonnet has both style and function, and is only available from Custom Autofashion.
The line running from side to side is not a fault with the product, but is a flash line, from the joint in the mould. Because of the undercut shape, the mould must be in two pieces. This line disappears during sanding as part of the normal pre-paint preparation of the product. |
