The Leaving Care Project
This is another joint project, between HIT and Social Services. The Leaving Care Project started in June 2003 and aims to provide lodgings in secure, caring homes for young people between the ages of 16 and 18 leaving care.
Referrals to the Project are made by the Buckinghamshire Leaving Care team. After receiving background information about the young person from Leaving Care, HIT endeavour to match the young person with a Leaving Care lodgings provider. HIT then arranges an initial meeting between the young person and the lodgings provider. Once a young person is placed with a provider they continue to receive support from their Leaving Care worker (PA). The lodgings provider is supported by a HIT worker, to help them with any issues that may arise.
