c. 1907
This original riding habit of double Melton material was made by habit maker Samuel Krohn of Duke Street, London. An advertisement for this particular style, with its attractive diagonal fastening and velvet collar, appeared in E.V.A. Christy's Modern Side Saddle Riding book in 1907, the made-to-measure habit costing five guineas. Samuel Krohn, for many years habit maker for J. Busvine & Co., assured his customers of his 'specialty: ladies' riding habits with the latest improved safety skirts', and offered them his personal attention.
